About Me

My photo
München, Bayern, Germany
I love all things motorsports and racing. I have an unhealthy addiction to modifying anything mechanical. Brakes and Suspension are my forte and I love driving fast in slow cars. I am in love with math, physics and knowing how things work. But if there's anything I've learned since being here, it's that experiencing a multitude of other cultures, traveling, and seeing tangible history will enrich ones life in ways no book can offer.

Monday 20 December 2010

Catching up from winter break.

My girlfriend visited December 17 and I got to show her around The Braunschweiger Weihnachtsmarkt . This trip was definitely had a lot of Christmas market visits.

She had her first half meter Bratwurst

Saturday December 19th, 2010 we embarked on our little holiday vacation. We went to Hamburg to catch our flight, but it  was delayed. After an hour or so of delays Air Berlin gave us a meal voucher for 6Euro so we could get something to eat. After three hours, the flight was cancelled. Air Berlin comped us hotel stay and dinner; they also rebooked for the 6am flight the following morning.

although we were delayed, we were happy campers to have a free place to stay.

We finally made it to Wien, Österreich (Vienna, Austria) and checked into our hostel. We headed out immediately to try to catch up for the lost evening. We took the train to Schloß Schönbrunn and visited the little Weihnachtsmarkt there. Here Amanda sampled the Glühwein und Riesig Schokokrapfen (Huge chocolate filled donut)

We then headed to Stephansplatz and when they were digging for the subway long ago, they discovered what is now known as St. Virgils Chapel.... It is protected to this day.

Some views from Stephansplatz

Rallied out subaru!

We went back to the hostel and took naps...remember we had left out of hamburg at 6am after sleeping only a couple hours as our flight was cancelled the night before. Later that night we met up with my classmate who was staying with his family in Vienna to go get some Wienerschnitzel (traditionally made with veal but can be pork, pounded flat and breaded like a cutlet). We walked around Viennas Weihnachtsmarkt in front of the most beautiful Rathaus (city hall) i've seen yet.

and just wandered for the rest of the night
